WHAT IS THE CODE UPDATE ABOUT?

This effort will update Braselton's development code, which determines what type of development is allowed (residential, commercial, industrial, etc.), where it is allowed, and how dense it can be.  It also controls how new development looks and works, including building materials, parking, and landscaping.
 
The Town of Braselton has hired Atlanta-based consultants TSW to facilitate this year-long process.  This effort will continue the conversation from the Comprehensive Plan.
What are the goals of this effort?

  1. Raise the bar on the quality of future development
     

  2. Simplify regulations and the development process
     

  3. Refine the Comprehensive Plan vision to limit inappropriate development
     

  4. Balance individual property rights with community goals
     

  5. Protect open space and natural areas

This drop-in online meeting included a brief video to introduce the code update process, and a series of policy questions for public input.
